01 / Alberta app index
Alberta online casino apps you can verify
Alberta casino apps can be checked against a public register: every operator in our Alberta list appears on the AGLC registrants list as an iGaming operator, checked Oct 9, 2026, and the list itself is shown to visitors located in Alberta. Play Alberta is the province’s own platform.
The Alberta app list is only shown to visitors in the province it covers. You appear to be in Ontario. The App Index shows the apps for your own province, and the province guide explains the rules where you are.
02 / The market
How the Alberta online casino market works
For years the only legal Alberta online casino was Play Alberta, run by Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC). Alberta opened its market to private operators on July 13, 2026, in the same way Ontario did: companies register with the AGLC as iGaming operators and offer their games under agreements with the province’s iGaming corporation. Play Alberta continues alongside them, and the Play Alberta app is still the one most Albertans know.
Choosing an Alberta online casino therefore starts with one list. The AGLC publishes every registrant, including the iGaming operators, in a list anyone can download. That is the list we check this page against. An app whose operator is not on it is not part of Alberta’s legal market, whatever its store page says.
Legal Alberta casino apps at a glance
- Minimum age 18, the same as Manitoba and Quebec and one year below Ontario.
- You must be physically in Alberta to play; the apps check your location.
- Registered operators and Play Alberta only.
03 / Which app
One brand, several apps
Several brands publish a separate app for each regulated province, because each market has its own rules, payment setup and game approvals. 2 of the 3 apps in our Alberta list carry “Alberta” in their store name. An Ontario app will not let you play in Alberta, and the Alberta app will not work in Ontario.
Alberta casino apps are easy to mix up with their Ontario twins. The safest way to get the right one is the operator’s own website, which links to the app for your province. In the store, check the developer name and the province in the app title before you install. Our iPhone and Android guides explain what else to look at.
04 / Payments
Paying in and out of legal Alberta apps
Every Alberta online casino in our list handles money the same basic way. Interac e-Transfer is the method most Albertans use, and it is accepted by most apps in the list. Deposits arrive in minutes. Withdrawals wait for the operator’s review, and the first one also waits for your identity check: upload a government ID and proof of address right after you register.
Your bank’s own e-Transfer limits apply on top of the app’s limits. If a deposit fails, check those first. The Interac guide and withdrawal guide cover the details.
05 / Alberta vs Ontario
What changes if you know Ontario’s apps
| Alberta | Ontario | |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum age | 18 | 19 |
| Regulator | AGLC | AGCO, with iGaming Ontario |
| Provincial platform | Play Alberta | OLG |
| Public operator list | AGLC gaming registrants | iGaming Ontario operator list |
| Support line | AHS Addiction Helpline | ConnexOntario |
Two things stay the same in both provinces: you must be physically inside the province to play, and the operator has to verify your identity before it pays you. The deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion tools are also required in both markets, so the account settings look familiar whichever app you use. Only the helpline numbers and the age differ.
For players the practical difference is the app itself: an account opened on an Ontario app does not move with you to Alberta, and the Alberta version of a brand may carry a different game selection while each market’s approvals catch up.
06 / Support
Staying in control in Alberta
Registered apps give you deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion in the account settings. Set a deposit limit before your first deposit. GameSense Alberta has practical guidance at gamesenseab.ca and a phone line at 1-833-447-7523; the AHS Addiction Helpline answers 24 hours a day at 1-866-332-2322.
How this Alberta list is built
Operators come from the AGLC registrants list (class “iGaming - Operator”), matched to each app’s developer; store data from the Canadian App Store and Google Play, checked Oct 9, 2026. We did not play these apps. How we check apps.
07 / FAQ
Alberta casino apps: questions
Is online casino legal in Alberta?
Yes. Adults 18 and over who are physically in Alberta can play on Play Alberta, the province’s own platform, and on apps from operators registered with Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC).
How old do you have to be to use casino apps in Alberta?
18. Alberta is one of three provinces, with Manitoba and Quebec, where the minimum age is 18 rather than 19.
How do I check if an Alberta casino app is registered?
The AGLC publishes its gaming registrants online, and you can filter the list for the class “iGaming - Operator”. Compare the company there with the developer named in the App Store or Google Play.
What is Play Alberta?
The AGLC’s own online platform for casino games, lottery and sports betting. The Play Alberta app is on both the App Store and Google Play, rated 4.2/5 from 4,482 App Store ratings at the last check.
Can I use an Ontario casino app in Alberta?
No. Ontario apps only work inside Ontario. Operators that serve both provinces either publish a separate Alberta app or one app that switches by location.
Do Alberta casino apps check my location?
Yes. You must be physically in Alberta to play, so the apps ask for precise location while they are in use and block wagers elsewhere.
Which payment methods do Alberta casino apps accept?
Interac e-Transfer, debit cards, bank transfer and e-wallets are the usual options. The Interac column in the table above shows which apps accept it.
Where can I get help with gambling in Alberta?
GameSense Alberta (gamesenseab.ca, 1-833-447-7523) and the Alberta Health Services Addiction Helpline, open 24 hours a day at 1-866-332-2322.
How often is the Alberta list updated?
Store data was last checked on Oct 9, 2026, and the operator list was compared with the AGLC registrants list on the same day.
