01 / Overview
The provinces’ own lottery casino apps
The olg app, the playnow app and their counterparts in other provinces are the oldest lottery casino apps in Canada. Before any private operator was allowed in, every province already sold lottery tickets, and most of them added online casino games to the same platform. These lottery casino apps are run by Crown corporations, and in most provinces outside Ontario and Alberta they are the only online casino regulated at home.
| Platform | Province | Store rating | Ratings |
|---|---|---|---|
| OLG | Ontario | 380,810 | |
| Play Alberta | Alberta | 4,482 | |
| PlayNow | British Columbia | 27 | |
| Loto-Québec | Quebec | 257,432 | |
| Atlantic Lottery | New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador | 83,536 |
Lottery casino apps differ less in their games than in what else they bundle. Ratings are from the Canadian App Store, checked Oct 9, 2026. The OLG app leads by a wide margin with 380,810 ratings, because it doubles as Ontario’s lottery ticket checker.
02 / Ontario
OLG app (Ontario)

The OLG app is the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s app for lottery and online casino games. It is the app most Ontarians already have for checking lottery tickets, which explains its enormous number of store ratings.
Inside the app, the casino section sits next to the lottery products, with the same account and limits. You must be 19 for casino games and sports betting and physically in Ontario to play.
Sports betting has its own download: the proline app, listed as OLG PROLINE Sportsbook and published by the same corporation. British Columbia’s lottery corporation also publishes an app called BCLC Proline, so check the developer before you install.
03 / Alberta
Play Alberta app

Play Alberta is run by Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis and covers casino games, lottery and sports betting. Since Alberta opened its market to registered private operators, Play Alberta competes with them but remains the province’s own platform.
The minimum age is 18, and you must be in Alberta to play.
04 / British Columbia
PlayNow app (British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan)

PlayNow is the online brand of the British Columbia Lottery Corporation, and the same name is used by Manitoba and Saskatchewan for their own provincial sites. The PlayNow app in the App Store and Google Play is the BCLC casino app; sports betting has separate PlayNow apps per province.
The minimum age is 19 in British Columbia and Saskatchewan and 18 in Manitoba.
05 / Quebec
Loto-Québec app

Loto-Québec runs lottery, online casino and sports betting for Quebec. Its main app covers the lottery side; casino games are offered through its online platform. The minimum age is 18.
06 / New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador
Atlantic Lottery app

Atlantic Lottery serves the four Atlantic provinces with lottery, casino games and sports betting. The Atlantic Lottery app is the mobile way in for all of them. The minimum age is 19.
07 / Searching the stores
Finding the OLG app and the PlayNow app
People search for the olg app and the playnow app more than for any private brand, and the stores return a mix of official apps and lookalikes. Check the developer name: the OLG app is published by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, the PlayNow app by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation. Anyone else using those names is not the province.
The proline app is a separate download for sports betting, and two provinces use the name, so the developer check matters twice. If you are not in one of these provinces, compare the private operators on the App Index for your own province.
08 / Accounts
One account for lottery and casino
On the provincial platforms, the lottery and casino sides usually share one account and one wallet. Deposit limits set for the account cover both, which is worth knowing if you buy lottery tickets online and play casino games in the same app.
09 / FAQ
Lottery casino apps: questions
What are provincial lottery casino apps?
Casino apps run by the provinces’ own lottery corporations: OLG in Ontario, Play Alberta, PlayNow in British Columbia, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, Loto-Québec and Atlantic Lottery. Their profits go to the provincial government.
Is the OLG app an online casino?
Yes. The OLG app combines lottery and online casino games. Sports betting is in a separate app, OLG PROLINE Sportsbook.
Where is the PROLINE app?
OLG publishes it separately as OLG PROLINE Sportsbook. A different app called BCLC Proline belongs to British Columbia, so check the developer name.
Is the PlayNow app available on Android?
Yes. The PlayNow casino app from BCLC is on both Google Play and the App Store.
Can I use the PlayNow app outside British Columbia?
The BCLC app is for British Columbia. Manitoba and Saskatchewan run their own PlayNow sites, so you need the one for your province.
Are lottery casino apps safer than private operators?
Provincial platforms answer directly to the province. Registered private operators in Ontario and Alberta are also regulated. Outside those two provinces, the provincial platform is the only option regulated at home.
Do lottery casino apps check my location?
Yes. Each platform only serves players physically inside its own province.
How old do I have to be?
19 for casino games in Ontario, British Columbia, Saskatchewan and the Atlantic provinces; 18 in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec.
